The 0-2 Steelers host the 2-0 Chicago Bears in the Sunday Night Game this week with the Bears currently a -2.5 point away favorite at 5 Dimes sportsbook with a total of 40.5 points. The Bears got by the Vikings by 1 and the Bengals by 3 while the Steelers were beaten by both the Bengals and Titans. This will be the Bears first road Game this year.
Take a wild guess which way the public went on this one? Can’t blame them here. 88% of the action on this one at 5dimes.com has come in on the Bears. Although, the public also likes the over to the tune of 77% and we have to wonder if perhaps they feel the Bears will be the ones doing all the scoring as the Steelers certainly haven’t shown they can put points on the board, scoring just 9 and 10 points in two Games.
Going against the public can be a profitable strategy. Especially in the NFL. However, it takes guts. Because let’s face it, if you handicap a Game like this one, and focus on the merits of each team, there’s no way on earth you’d come up with the Steelers being the better team or the logical choice here. There’s nothing to like. They have been in a steady decline going back to last season and have been simply pitiful this year. An average of 9.5 points per Game isn’t going to beat too many NFL teams.
You could almost imagine the Steelers starting 0-8 and their decline being the talk of the NFL by the midway point.
