Cardinals

49ers

Week 5

NFL

Thursday Night Pick

10/6/16

The San Francisco 49ers were Game opponents for the Dallas Cowboys but they still lost. It is odd to say that Jeremy Kerley may just be the 49ers best offensive weapon. If that is the case, there’s good reason for the 49ers to be 1 and 3. That’s not meant as a knock against Jeremy Kerley, but more of a knock to the 49ers’ GM.

The team needs weapons if they’re going to put a sufficient amount of points on the board to win a Game. The 49ers are in the middle of the pack at 15th in the NFL when it comes to points per Game, but they are near the bottom in yards per Game at 28th in the NFL. What that tells you is that the team cannot sustain long drives which then in turn puts pressure on their defense.

Their defense ranks toward the bottom of points allowed which is surprising considering they shut out the Rams in the first week of the season. When you combine an offense that cannot stay on the field and is mediocre at scoring with a defense that gives up a ton of points, that team is going to lose a lot more often than not.

The Cardinals have been the second most disappointing team in the league only behind Carolina. Carson Palmer is still going through the league’s coNCussion protocol so his status for the Thursday night Game is in question. (Note – Palmer is OUT)

After the beat down that Arizona delivered to the Buccaneers. it looked like the tide had shifted and that they had gotten over their first week hangover. However, they followed up that victory with two losses and the offense has looked atrocious in both of those Games.

Currently the Cardinals are -3 -130 or -3.5 with a total of 42 at most shops. In this battle of 1-3 teams, we’re going to side with the 49ers. In fact, we’d be on the 49ers with a healthy Carson Palmer, based on both teams play thus far this year, 49ers +3.5
