Dallas Cowboys
vs.
New York Giants
Week 14
NFL Pick
12/11/16
The Cowboys are riding an 11-Game win streak and their only blemish on the season was in their 1st Game where they lost at home to the Giants. They have already made the playoffs and they can win the NFC East crown with a win over the Giants in this Game. Dallas has it all from the best offensive line in football, to a solid defense, and a couple of great rookies in QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliot, who leads the NFL in rushing yards.
The Giants are at 8-4 and they control their destiny and while it is unlikely they will catch the Cowboys in the division they are in the lead in the Wild Card. They had won six straight before losing their last Game, but while winning six in a row is a solid feat they only faced one team in that span that is currently over .500. They rank 8th in the league on defense and their aerial attack has played well with Eli Manning running the show they only rank 31st in the league in rushing yards per Game.
In their last Game the Dallas Cowboys were on the road and lost to the Minnesota Vikings 17-15 where they did not cover as a 3-point favorite.
The Giants lost their last Game to the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-14 where they did not cover the spread on the road as a 6.5-point underdog.
The Giants have covered the spread in the last 4 Games facing the Cowboys.
The Cowboys did not play a great Game in the win over the Vikings and they may have been a little lucky not to be called on a penalty very late in the Game when the Vikings were going for a tie on a 2-point conversion. Prescott passed for 139 yards and Elliot has his lowest rushing output (86 yards) since the 2nd Game of the season. Where Dallas really struggled was on 3rd downs (1 for 9). New York ranks a solid 5th in run defense, but only 25th in pass defense.
The Giants had trouble moving the ball on the Steelers to the tune of only 234 total yards. Manning did have a couple of TD, but he was also picked off 2 times and that really hurt the G-Men. The rushing offense has really struggled all season and RB Rashad Jennings is their lead rusher with only 414 yards. In the loss to Pittsburgh the Giants only had a grand total of 56 yards on the ground.
Dallas has a defense much like the Giants, as they are solid against the run (ranking 2nd), but not against the pass (ranking 18th).
Dallas is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road Games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Games following a straight up win, and in their last 11 Games on the road the posted total has gone Under 9 times.
New York is 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 Games overall, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home Games vs. a team with a winning road record, and in their last 4 Games the Under has been the winning bet every time.
