San Francisco 49ers (4-11 SU 5-10 ATS) vs. L.A. Rams (12-3 SU 6-8-1 ATS)

The 49ers have had a season to forget, but they had won two straight before losing a defensive battle in their last Game. Their D has been playing solid in their last three Games giving up an average of 12 ppg. Their offense has not been explosive on the season and they need to play good defense to win this Game.

The Rams had lost two in a row before a blowout win over a weak Arizona Cardinals team in their last Game. While they have the #2 seed in the NFC they will lose that and lose a first round bye if they lose this Game and the Chicago Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings. L.A.’s offense got back on track in their last Game scoring 31 points, but QB Jared Goff has not looked good in his last few Games and that is a HUGE coNCern entering the playoffs.

At 5Dimes sportsbook the Rams are a 10–point home favorite with a total of 50.

This season the 49ers are 5-10 ATS with an O/U record of 8-7 and the Rams are 6-8-1 ATS with an O/U record of 7-8.

Earlier this season in San Francisco the Rams beat the 49ers 39-10.

The 49ers had covered the spread in five straight Games against the Rams before failing to do so in the first matchup this season.

In their last Game, the 49ers were at home and lost to the Chicago Bears 14-9. They were only outGAined 325 yards to 279 yards and forced two turnovers, but they only rushed for 47 yards.

Nick Mullens passed for 241 yards with no TD and a pick and he has five picks in his last five Games. TE George Kittle has been one of the bright spots for the 49ers this season with 1,228 receiving yards and he led the team with 74 of them in the loss to Chicago. San Fran could get nothing going on the ground and Jeff Wilson Jr. led the team with only 27 rushing yards. Matt Breida leads the 49ers in rushing yards on the season, but he has been ruled out for this Game with an ankle injury.

This season the Rams rank 13th in the league in pass defense and 22nd in run defense and in their last Game they only GAve up 263 total yards.

The Rams were on the road in their last Game beating the Arizona Cardinals 31-9 where they shut out the Cardinals in the 2nd half. They had 461 yards in the Game and were legit on the ground with 269 rushing yards.

Goff had a decent Game going 19/24 for 216 yards with one TD and no INT, but in his previous three Games he had only one TD and six picks. He has a solid WR corps and C.J. Anderson blew up in the win over Arizona with 167 rushing yards and a TD averaging 8.4 yards per carry. Todd Gurley has only rushed for 76 yards in his last two Games and missed the Arizona Game with a knee injury and is questionable for the 49ers Game.

San Francisco has a defense that played well in their last Game and they rank 12th in the league in run and pass defense.

49ers ATS Trends

2-5 ATS in their last 7 road Games

7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 Games facing a team with a winning record

Over record of 6-2 in their last 8 Games facing a team with a winning record

Rams ATS Trends

0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 home Games

2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 Games after a win

Over record of 5-1 in their last 6 home Games

Jason’s Pick: I don’t’ think Gurley will go in this Game, as the Rams will want him fresh for the playoffs. L.A. is only 0-4-1 ATS in their last five home Games, but don’t look for that trend to continue. Goff will have a bouNCe-back Game and have a big Game and the Rams will get the W and cover the spread and lock up the #2 seed in the NFC.
