The Chiefs are coming off their first Super Bowl win in 50 years. The team returns most if its players from last season, which means they are loaded.

Odds to win AFC West: -365

Odds to win AFC: +310

Odds to win Super Bowl: +625

Key Additions: No surprise the Chiefs were not very active in the off-season. They did have a good draft and with their picks in the first and second rounds, respectively chose two players that may start right away in RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire and LB Willie Gay.

Key Losses: The main loss for the squad was CB Kendall Fuller, who signed a big deal with the Redskins. The team also lost RB LeSean McCoy, LB Reggie Ragland, TE Blake Bell, and longtime P Dustin Colquitt.

Season Preview

Last season head coach Andy Reid finally won the big one and Mahomes was sensational in the playoffs. The team boasts a wealth of riches on offense with the likes of WR’s Tyreek Hill, Demarcus Robinson, and Sammy Watkins and star TE Travis Kelse.

Mahomes has to avoid a Super Bowl hangover and simply play like he has the last two seasons where he was MVP in the first and then Super Bowl MVP last season.

First-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire may get a lot of snaps as a rookie and will share the backfield with Damien Williams, who led the team last season with 498 rushing yards.

Not only is Edwards-Helaire a legit rusher but gives Mahomes yet another weapon out of the backfield and last season winning a national title at LSU he caught 55 passes for 463 yards.

The offense gets all the press for KC and not surprising with Mahomes and a loaded unit. However, the defense was pretty good last season ranking seventh in the league in ppg allowed per game (19.2 ppg).

Most of the defense is back for the Chiefs this season and one question mark is the possible suspension of CB Bashaud Breeland. However, the team is strong at the safety position with Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, and Daniel Sorensen.

The one issue for the team on defense is defending the run. However, up front the team is mostly the same and second-round pick Willie Gay is unproved but super-athletic.

The pass rush for the team is also a good one and should be so again this season with the duo of Chris Jones and Frank Clark, who combined for 17 sacks last season.

The beginning of the season is a killer one for the Chiefs, as in their first six games facing four teams that made the playoffs last season including the Texans, Ravens, and Patriots.

Prediction:  It is Super Bowl or bust for the Chiefs and Mahomes, who is in his prime and the best QB in the league. Surprising that they won it all last season and are behind the Ravens in teams of odds to win the AFC and the Super Bowl.

Take the odds on the Chiefs, as they will have a great season behind a stellar offense and the team will repeat as Super Bowl champions.
