  • Skybook is a Joke

Closed my account with Skybook. I‘ve bet the limit at all of the books on the Don Best Screen for several years, and they are all first class operations - except for SKYBOOK. This place is a first class JOKE.

He stalls me every time I call. He waits to see if the number moves anywhere while I'm on hold, then if it does, he shoots me the next number. He claims he wants to take big action, but that is a lie.
The only way I could ever bet him is if I bet him two minutes before anyone else. When I complained to him, he said " If I see one black mark on the screen - you don't get the number ".
If he puts a good number up, he will never let me have it. But, if I only bet him, he still won't honor the number on the screen if it a good number.

If you bet him now, any don't have any problems with him, it's because one of two reasons:
    1. You're a loser, and he's glad to take your action.
    or...
    2. You're a winner, and he wants to bet your plays. This won't do you any good.
If you are a winner, and he can't bet your plays, then he'll stall and jack you around, then not give you the number on the screen.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, who is a big player has anything good to say about this guy. Before becoming a bookmaker, he was a mover for the big bettors. He had a trerrible reputation as a mover. He was said to move 15,000 - turn in 3,000 instead of half - then scalp you on the turn in.

He's known to have bragged in the poker games at the Mirage that he loves to stall the sharp bettors, then move his line without ever taking a bet from them.
He usually updates off of the other moves on the screen, without even taking a bet.
The other day, CRIS typed the wrong number in their computer, and moved from 2 to pick. Skybook quickly moved from 2 to pick also, afraid that somebody sharp might bet him. But when when CRIS corrected their typo, and changed the line to 1.5, so did SKYBOOK. What a joke !!!

He is more of a bettor than a bookmaker. Everybody knows that anyway. That's why the rumor is that he's in financial trouble. They say he's blown a fortune trying to follow the wise guys. Some big players have told me the only way they would ever bet him is if HE posted up.

He knows he can't follow my plays, so he jacks me around on the phone so he doesn't have to book me. Last year I had a bad season and lost big betting the NBA. But not to Skybook. He was too busy trying to stall me, so I could hardly ever bet him. He would have have won big if just booked my action, but instead, blew his brains out betting my plays at the next number.

Like I said before, if he treats you good, it's either because you are a loser, or he wants to bet your picks.

    Beware.

I must have seen this 100 times...a junior member bashes a book, then another junior member responds to the post. It must be a coincidence that both of your IP addresses begin with the same numbers. What book are you shilling for?

Only one major problem there recently:
called to bet a number on screen, was quoted same number by a clerk but when i called my bet I was informed it was a BAD NUMBER. It wasn't THAT bad but whatever. Anyway that has only happened once in several years of betting ... if that happened every week well that would be different.

My first thought also Sheik, but Freds post sounded real. Its really starting to look suspicios after another junior follows it right up. There are some limit players in here, maybe some can confirm or not. I'll bet Reno would know but I guess he's gone for awhile.

Where is Skybook lately? You couldn't keep him out of here when talking about other books.

They have a different number for bigger players. When you ask for a line, the clerk says to his boss, "is the Knick line good for xxxx?" 95-98% of the time, the line is good. If you're betting steam, they might not give you the line on the screen...but that's understandable.

I've played at skybook off and on throughout this year and didn't really care for it. Unlike CRIS, Spts Mkt., ABC, etc.. the operator had to check with the manager concerning the line. Why post your #'s on the Don Best Screen if most of the time they don't matter anyway? I do follow steam and constantly see on the screen that they are the last to move when steam hits. But when I call the line is just like the rest of them. A couple of seconds after I hang up they'll update. But I don't think its because they got hit on the game its just because they want to be like the rest of the screen.

Sounds to me like this is more of a personal attack on Sky himself then on Skybook. IF its a personal attack on Skybook I will gladly respond. First of all to you and anyone out there Skybook is owned equally by 3 partners
33% each and I am one of them. You obviously
know everything about the industry so we can cut to the chase. If you think coming in here and writing that negative comment hurts skybook it doesnt. I personally followed this forum for 4 months and was a paid advertisor for a few. We did not have any clients sign up becuase they found out about us in here or any leave because of something they heard in here. So if you think you your post will carry some great weight and hurt this company you are waisting your time. I love reading these forums because I find them entertaining and educational and I was able to see your posts because I enjoy the sight and read it often. As far as your complaint goes. Now that you know Sky is a minority 33% partner of this company and a personal attack on Skybook will be sent not only at him but also myself , my other partner, and every single memeber of our staff. So since you seem to have a personal history with him put that aside and Ill address your issues with this company. First ask around about me. Call some other donbest books or people you know in the business. I am sure you will be more then happy with what you here. Then pick up the phone today call here and ask for me personally. Tell me your account number and ill review your problem with you. I and Skybook wants your action no matter what action it is . I can assure you. Ill stay here for a few hours waiting for your call and help you resolve your problems with Skybook to your full satisfaction. Then I am sure you will never have a problem again. If you do then pick up the phone and call me again. Consider me your friend. Please call me because I am anxiously awaiting your call. I want to go into your problem in more depth and will answer any questions you have for as long as you need me to personally attend to this matter.

                        Thanks you very much Lance

The reason I am bashing Skybook, is because what I said before really happened. It's not just an isolated case either. I've gotten jerked around for two years. And, I'm not the only one this happens to. All of the wise guys are mistreated by Skybook.

I don't even know Sky, so this is really not a personal beef. I just think people should know how Skybook treats some of it's customers.
If he is only a 33% partner, then why do the other partners tolerate this kind of behavior. I'm not attacking any person. I am criticizing the operation of Skybook and the way Skybook has treated me.
All I ever wanted to do, was be able to bet a game at the number on the screen. I know sometimes someone else be also be betting the same game. But I'm the originator, I call you first, and I still never get the number.
I never take any shots. I just wanted to bet.

I would not mind if you don't want sharp action. But when you go on the Don Best Screen, you should be willing to take sharp action and treat your customers properly.

I appreciate your willingness to talk to me, so I will give you a call.

                              Fred
