The Bengals are heading to New York to take on the Jets. This is a damn good Game and could be an early matchup of a Divisional round playoff Game. Both of these teams have talented receivers and quarterbacks that have short memories. It’s tough to judge which team has a better defense in that they are both stacked with talent at all 3 levels.
Currently the Bengals are -1.5 point favorites at 5 dimes sportsbook with a total of 41.5.
The return on the Red Rocket for the Bengals is eNCOuraging news to this year’s season for the Bengals. He and AJ Green finally seemed to be on the same page prior to his unfortunate injury. The one area where the Bengals need to drastically improve is the running Game.
Jeremy Hill under performed big time, but I expect that to turn around as he is a solid back. Combining the one-two puNCh of Hill and Bernard, I expect the Bengals to be able to rely on their defense and running Game to help manage Andy Dalton throughout the year.
Cincinnati was the second best defense in the league when it came to points allowed per Game. Their offense ranked as the 15th best which is nothing to write home about, but when you are able to rely on an outstanding defense while putting points on the board, your team will end up in good shape.

The New York Jets have their quarterback situation figured out and look to rebound from an ALMOST kind of year. Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are a great duo on the outside. You bring in Matt Forte and I don’t see how they have gotten any worse… I’m not even going to get into all of the standout names on the defensive side of the ball. Let’s just say that their defense is stacked and probably will insight fear into their opponents.
Head Coach Todd Bowles knows what the heck is going on in the football world. The Jets are held back by the strength of the division they play in. Had they been in the AFC South, we’re looking at a 13-win team, but being in the AFC East, I think it’s reasonable to expect anywhere between 7-9 and 10-6 for this team.
Early lines favor the Bengals by 2. This translates into the Bengals having a 53.5% chance of winning this Game. My Elo model indicates that the Bengals should be a 3-point favorite or have a 62% chance of winning this Game.
These are two very good football teams that are on the rise. However, the feeling here is that the Bengals are on the rise faster than the Jets and I think Fitzpatrick will commit more turnovers than Dalton. The Pick is the Bengals -1.5 in a low scoring affair.
