Seahawks

vs.

Cardinals

Week 10

NFL Pick

11/9/17

By: Jason Green

Seattle Seahawks (5-3 SU 3-5 ATS) vs. Arizona Cardinals (4-4 SU 2-6 ATS)

The Seahawks are coming off a rare home loss and that snapped their Four-Game winning streak. With the loss they are now on the outside looking in one Game back of the surprising L.A. Rams in the NFC West. Seattle still ranks in the top 10 in the league in ppg and opponents’ ppg, but they only scored 14 points in their last Game and they don’t have much of a running Game to speak of.

At 5 dimes sportsbook the Seahawks are 5.5-point favorites with a total of 41.5.

The Cardinals are coming off a win and it is pretty surprising they are still in the playoff race at .500 with Carson Palmer and David Johnson out for the season with injuries. They have won two of their last three Games and they are at 4-4 even though they do not rank in the top 25 in the NFL in ppg or opponents’ ppg. The one thing Arizona has going for them is that they are playing relaxed since they know they have low expectations with their big guns on offense on the sidelines.

This is the first match up of the season between these division rivals and they do not meet again until the season finale in the Great Northwest.

The Seahawks have covered the spread in their last Four road Games against the Cardinals.

In their last Game the Seahawks lost to the Washington Redskins 17-14 where they missed three FG’s and only put up 14 points after putting up 41 in the previous Game. They out-gained the Redskins 437 yards to 244 yards, but allowed the Skins to make a late comeback with a long bomb to set up the Game-winning TD. Russell Wilson passed for 297 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT and he was also the team’s leading rusher with 77 yards while the next leading rusher was Thomas Rawls with only 39 yards on the ground. Doug Baldwin had a big Game with 108 receiving yards and a TD, but it will be key in this Game that the O-line give Wilson time in the pocket, which he did not have in the loss to Washington.

Wilson could use some help from the run Game in this Thursday night match up and while Arizona only ranks 21st in the league in pass D they rank a legit 11th in run D.

The Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-10 in their last Game where Adrian Peterson was the star rushing for 157 yards. Arizona did not have many more yards than San Francisco, but AD paced the offense and the defense held the 49ers to only 63 rushing yards. Drew Stanton passed for 201 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT and the ageless LArry Fitzgerald led the team with 70 receiving yards. AD has his work cut out for him in this Game facing a Seattle run D that only allowed 51 rushing yards in the loss to the Redskins. If Peterson struggles to help move the chains the Cardinals may be in trouble relying on Stanton to carry the team with his arm.

The Seahawks are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road Games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Games after a straight up loss, and they have an Under record of 5-0 in their last 5 Games facing teams from the NFC.

The Cardinals are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 home Games, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Games overall, and in their last 15 home Games the Under record is 12-3.

Jason’s Pick:
The Seahawks have covered the spread in their last seven Thursday night Games. Look for that trend to continue, as while they are one-dimensional on offense with Wilson their D will come up big and keep Peterson from having a big Game. Seattle will get the win, cover the spread in the desert, and send the Cardinals under .500.
