Cincinnati will host Toledo on Friday Night in what will be the Bearcats first Game of the year. This Game was off the board early in the week due to the questionable status of Toledo QB Phillip Ely. Word has come out that Ely is OUT, likely for the year with an ACL injury. 5 Dimes currently has the Bearcats favored by 11.
These two played in 2012 with the Bearcats ranked 21st in the Nation and Toledo gave them all they could handle. The final in that one was 29-23 with the Bearcats on top and I think that’s significant. In 2013 Toledo was 7-5 and didn’t embarrass themselves against a few of the upper class teams they played, such as Florida, Missouri and Northern Illinois.
True, this time around against Missouri, it wasn’t pretty as they were pretty much hammered last week. However, I think when you factor in that this will be Cincinnati’s first Game and Toledo already has two under their belts, a case can be made for Toledo once again giving the Bearcats all they can handle.
The QB going down at first glance could be a concern. However, the Toledo offense is built around their running Game. Ely’s replacement, Logan Woodside, was the Toledo back up last year and started a Game and saw action in a few others. He should be able to get the job done.
Rather than tie up a full wager on the put come if this Game, it might be wise to divide that wager by 3 and make 3 separate wagers. That would be Toledo in the 1st quarter, the first half and then the full Game. again, this being the Bearcats first Game should come into play here. If not over the course of the full Game, certainly the beginning of it. There’s no replacement for actual Game conditions. Toledo has it, Cinci does not.
Toledo + 1st quarter, Toledo +1st half and Toledo + 11 for the Game.
