Oklahoma State will host Texas Tech on Thursday night in a Game that can be seen on ESPN at 7:30 pm est. Currently, as of Monday morning, Oklahoma State is a -13.5 point favorite at 5 dimes sportsbook with no total posted as of this early week writing.
This was a fairly close series until 2009 when it slanted in favor of Oklahoma State. In that year it was a close 24-17 loss but it’s been progressively worse in each of the following years. So for Tech, it’s been 5 straight losses and the last 4 weren’t even close.
Texas Tech is 2-1 but those wins came against Central Arkansas and UTEP and by just 7 and 4 points. Their loss came to Arkansas 49-28. Oklahoma State is also 2-1 and their wins were also against weaker competition however by much larger margins. Their loss however, came to the #1 team in the nation, Florida State, in a close 37-31 Game. Both teams had last week off.
Typically, in a matchup like this, we’ll shy away from the favorite and only look at the dog, or pass. The reasoning is simple. Nether team in this matchup is known for defense. Both can put points on the board in a hurry. It’s generally a recipe for disaster when backing a favorite in a spot like this. The fav can do everything right, even dominate the Game, and the dog slips in the back door with garbage 4th quarter points.
That being said, we anticipated the line would be much higher in this matchup. It’s only Monday morning when this is being written. Right now as of this writing, it’s Oklahoma State -13.5 and at anything less than two TD’s we’ve got to side with the Cowboys. Oklahoma State -13.5
