Boise State is back in the top 25 after their 3-0 start and in their last 2 Games they have knocked off a couple of teams from the Pac 12. They were throttled last season by Utah State and look for some payback on their home turf in this Mountain West Conference match up.
Utah State is at 2-2 and while their 2 losses have come against solid teams, well USC is suspect in that category so far, their 2 wins have come against a couple of teams that are far from powerhouses in Weber State and Arkansas State. The Aggies’ defense must play well in this Game, as their offense is not a dynamic one and does not rank in the top 63 in the nation in passing or rushing yards per Game.
While Boise State is at 3-0 they have failed to cover double digit spreads in their last 2 Games. Utah State lost to Air Force 27-20 in their last Game, which was at home and were they did not cover as 5.5-point underdogs.
The Broncos are led by their passing attack, as Brett Rypien leads a team that ranks 20th in the nation in passing yards per Game. However, while he has a solid WR corps with a couple of players with over 215 receiving yards he only has 4 TD and also has 3 INT.
One key player for the Broncos is RB Jeremy McNichols, who has rushed for 116 yards and 208 yards in his last 2 Games and is averaging over 6 yards per carry. He will face an Aggies’ run D that gave up 213 rushing yards to Air Force in their last Game.
QB Kent Myers leads the Aggies and while he has a solid WR duo in Ron’Quavion Tarver and Rayshad Lewis he has to avoid the mistakes and he has as many INT (3) as TD (3) on the season. He has thrown 1 pick in each of the last 3 Games.
Devante Mays and Tonny Lindsey have each rushed for at least 200 yards on the season for Utah State and they will have a tall task this Saturday night facing a strong Boise State front line defense that ranks 6th in the nation defending the run.
