College Football Pick
By Jason Green
Wake Forest is off to a great 4-0 start and they have not played just cream puffs with wins over Duke and Indiana. However, they are big 11-point road underdogs facing NC State. That is not surprising since they have lost their last 2 match ups with them by a combined score of 77-30.
NC State should be well rested for this Game coming off a bye week. They have a solid and well-balanced offense that ranks in the top 40 in the nation in both passing and rushing yards per Game. They will be facing a Wake defense that ranks 20th in the nation only giving up an average of 16.5 ppg, but gave up a whopping 611 total yards in the win over Indiana.
Wake Forest scored a huge road win in their last Game beating Indiana 33-28 and covering as a 7-point underdog. NC State beat Old Dominion 49-22 in their last Game covering the spread as a 24.5-point favorite.
Wake already has 2 wins facing teams from Power 5 Conference while NC State has not played a Power 5 team in their 3 Games.
The reason the Demon Deacons beat Indiana is that they forced 5 turnovers all on interceptions. NCST QB Ryan Finley has 6 TD on the season and 0 INT and he will share time under center with Jalan McClendon, who had 2 TD and 1 rushing TD in the Old Dominion Game. The Wolfpack have a good WR corps and they also have a solid RB in Matthew Dayes, who has rushed for over 100 yards in 2 of 3 Games this season and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry.
Wake ranks a legit 12th in the nation in run defense, but only 84th in pass defense.
The Demon Deacons used a balanced offensive attack in the win over Indiana, but their strength on offense is running the ball. Matt Colburn leads the team with 298 rushing yards and 3 other guys have at least 125 yards on the ground. NC State ranks 27th in the nation defending the run and if they can stuff Wake on the ground they will win this ACC match up.
Wake Forest is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road Games and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 road Games.
NCST is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Games overall and 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Jason’s Pick: A revenge spot for the 4-0 Demon Deacons against an NC State team with which the jury is still out. The bettorsworld model has this one much closer than 11. Wake Forest +11
