Florida State was 10-3 last season. They started the year 4-0 which included a 1 point win over LSU. But then in October, the wheels came flying off. They dropped 3 straight to Wake Forest, NC State and Clemson before finishing the year with 5 straight wins, albeit a weak 5 game stretch. They then knocked off Oklahoma in the Cheez-it Bowl.
LSU was 10-4 a year ago which started off with a loss to these Seminoles in week 1. The highlight of the season was a 32-31 OT win over Alabama. The Tigers made it to the SEC Title game where they lost 50-30 to Georgia before blowing out Purdue in the Citrus Bowl 63-7.
Last Year’s Thriller
In last years game between these two teams to kick off the year, LSU scored first to lead 3-0 but that was their one and only lead of the game. At one point in the 3rd quarter it was 17-3 Florida State.
Florida State scored at the beginning of the 4th quarter to take a 24-10 lead but LSU fought back. They scored two TD’s in the 4th quarter the last one coming as time expired. At 24-23 the Tigers needed only to make the extra point to send the game to OT. The kick was blocked making for one of the most exciting finished in college football last season.

LSU and FSU played in week 1 last year. Had the game taken place at the end of last season, our number on the game would be LSU by 4 to 6 points. Both teams return their key talent on both sides of the ball this year.

Schedule strength plays a big role in our predicted margin had the game taken place at the end of last season. The Florida State schedule over the 2nd half of last season was fairly weak. Keep in mind as well that FSU had the benefit of having a game under their belts already when these two hooked up last year. No such luxury this year.
Lastly, are you tired of us talking about revenge yet? Hey, it’s a big factor in college football. Losing your first game of the season by 1 point with a blocked kick as time expires leaves a bad taste. It’s added motivation for a team we feel is stronger to begin with.
