49ers -165

The 49ers are loaded but at the main position at QB is Brock Purdy the answer? The last pick of the 2021 draft was solid last season when inserted as the starter and his injury in the NFC title game derailed San Fran’s chances. WRs Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings only missed a combine five games last season and will lead the good WR corps. Christian McCaffrey had over 1,200 yards from scrimmage in 11 games after being traded by the Panthers and he needs to stay on the field to help his young QB.

The defense is even more loaded than the offense and the 49ers have a complete team and their Super Bowl hopes hinge on Purdy being the guy. Still with a little over a week left before the season begins star Nick Bosa is still holding out for a new contract. The 49ers traded a king’s ransom to move up in the draft to get Trey Lance, but the team traded him for a fourth-round pick after Sam Darnold was named the #2 QB. The early season schedule for San Fran is not tough but they have several big out of conference games facing the Giants, Cowboys, Vikings, Bengals. Jaguars, and Ravens.

Seahawks +200

The Seahawks were a surprise making the playoffs last season behind a strong campaign from Comeback Player of the Year QB Geno Smith. He was given a contract extension and he has the weapons with DJ Metcalf and Tyler Lockett each eclipsing over 1,000 yards last season and the team taking WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round. Kenneth Walker rushed for over 1,000 yards after taking over for the injured Rashaad Penny, who left in the off-season, in the fifth game.

The defense was great last season in terms of takeaways and sacks and the team used their first-round draft pick (#5) to take lockdown CB Devon Witherspoon. The strength of schedule for Seattle is so-so, but before their last three games they have two games against the 49ers as well as facing the Cowboys and Eagles.

Rams +1000

The Rams fell off the cliff last season after winning the Super Bowl in the previous one. The team still has Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, and Cooper Kupp, but after that the team has a lot of holes. Cam Akers was solid after coming back from injury last season but there is not much after him in the backfield and the thin WR corps may be in trouble if workhorse Kupp repeats last season where he missed the last eight games.

Even with Donald the team only ranked 21st in the league last season in points allowed and the team lost a few key players on defense. L.A. begins the season with three tough games against the Seahawks, 49ers and Bengals, sop getting off to a good start is a tall task.

Cardinals +2700

The Cardinals are in rebuilding mode, as they have a new GM and head coach and they lost some veteran players and did not replace them with much. On top of that Kyler Murry is coming off a poor season that was cut short by an ACL injury. He will not be ready to go for the opener and RB James Connor, an iffy WR corps, and whomever is QB will have to carry the load early. Not only is the offense a mess, but the defense ranked second to last in the league last season in points allowed and while there were some changes to the unit there are still huge concerns on that side of the ball.

After facing the Commanders on the road in their season opener the Cardinals have four games facing the Giants, Cowboys, 49ers, and Bengals, so 0-5 to begin the season is not a far fetch.
