UFC 114 Preview and Odds
5/27/10
UFC 114 takes place this weekend at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Here is a look at a few of the main fights on the card along with the current odds for each match.
Quinton Rampage Jackson is a slight underdog on Sports Interaction for this weekends main event with Rashad Evans. Jackson is available at -115 compared to Rashads price of -120. Its only fitting that theres little to choose between such bitter rivals but just because this one will be tight, dont expect a cagey fight in the octagon. Rampage will live up to his nickname by bringing an aggressive Game plan, leaning heavily on his Boxing skills. Jackson has plenty of reasons to want to clock Rashad after their rivalry on the Ultimate Fighter and I expect Rampage to attack hard. Evans is horribly under-rated and dont rule out the quality of his Jujitsu and Wrestling skills. I like Rashad to keep this one close throughout but Rampage will force a late stoppage.
Britains Michael Bisping is looking to rebuild his reputation after losses to Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva and hes got the perfect comeback opponent in Dan Miller. The American has a decent record but is rightly an underdog at +137. Miller will stick around for most of this fight but wont be able to keep up with Bisping. I like Michael Bisping -189 to win this one on points.
If theres one sure thing at UFC 114 its got to be Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at -714 who takes on Jason Brilz, a big underdog at +400. Brilz is a late stand-in for Forrest Griffin and has never been in with a fighter remotely near Nogueiras level in his career. This one might not be short but it will be brutal and one-sided.
Finally we come to potentially the most explosive fight of the night. Todd Duffee only need 7 seconds to win his last fight and at -455 hes a big favorite to beat Tim Russow at +275. This will be the biggest fight to date of both fighters careers and Russow is definitely under rated going into this one. His +275 price is good value but not good enough to make me like him. Duffee will have too much power and speed for Russow; expect a knockout inside of two rounds.
