Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants

Betting Line: Giants -3 o/u 42.5

The Titans and the Giants are both coming off disappointing losses, the question is which team can put those losses behind them and get back on track.

First let’s look at the Titans, who started the season with a dominating victory over the Oakland Raiders 38-13. Quarterback ViNCe Young played extremely well, Chris Johnson ran wild and the defense pushed the Raiders all over the field. They were ready for their next opponent, the Pittsburg Steelers, or so they said. Problem is the Steelers aren’t the Raiders, their defense chased ViNCe Young literally out of the Game after completing 7 of 10 passes for a measly 66 yards and two interceptions. Running back Chris Johnson was held to 34 yards on the ground. The only player who seemed to find a crack in the Steelers defense was wide receiver Justin GAge, who averaged 18 yards a catch but the final Score of 19-11 sounds much closer then it really was.

The Giants took on the Colts in a battle of brotherly love, Manning versus Manning. Peyton’s team easily won 38-14 by completely running over the Giants. Joseph Addai GAined 92 of a total of 160 yards the Colts GAined on the ground. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne grabbed 7 balls for 96 yards plus a Scoreas did Dallas Clark. Like the Titans the week before the Gmen looked pretty good in trouNCing the Panthers 31-16. But against the Colts their defense looked overwhelmed and their offense seemed out of sorts. Eli Manning completed 13 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 89 yards but they couldn’t stay on the field. Losing to Indianapolis wasn’t that shocking, what was surprising is the way the Colts ran the ball down the Giants throats. The Titans will be looking to exploit this apparent flaw.

We see the Titans trying to do what the Colts did so effectively, use the run to setup the pass. Running back Chris Johnson is a stud with a career average of a little over 5 yards per carry. ViNCe Young is an athletic quarterback who likes to take off downfield. The Giants have to figure out a way to plug up the holes and stop the Titans running Game. Offensively the Giants haven’t performed to badly this year. The Titans defense is tough but the real key to this Game is the Giants ability to stop the run, and get off the field. If the defense plays better (which is likely) Eli Manning and the offense should be able to move the ball.

We expected the Giants to be a contender this year. After Monday Night we’re not so sure. Can’t get too excited about the week 1 win over the Panthers either as they could possibly be the worst team in the NFL. Giants fans will have a much better idea about their teams potential after this week. We’re going to give them one more crack. At -3, we’re just asking them to win a home Game. Expect a much better performance on both sides of the ball. Giants -3
