Predictions – Props
Having football withdrawals? Need a little action? No need to fear. The NFL draft is here! Whether you are a casual fan just looking to tune in out of curiosity, or a hardcore football junkie, you’ll get your fix this week. Best of all, most major sportsbooks will be posting betting odds and props for the 2010 NFL draft which gives us all another reason to tune in and watch the countdown clock with anticipation.
The NFL Draft moves into prime time for the first time ever this year when the 1st round begins on Thursday night at 630 pm est and continues Friday at 5pm est. The NFL is thrilled to have a prime time slot with the chance to bring the draft to the masses. Will the GAmble pay off? We doubt it. This years draft is missing one very important component……..stars. ONCe you get past Sam Bradford, who will be the 1st QB taken on the draft and likely the first player chosen, the average fan isn’t going to recognize most of the names. Lots of great lineman and defensive players will be among the first picks this year, not exactly household names for the casual college football fans.
But the NFL does have an interesting wildcard working in it’s favor that may go a long way towards holding viewer interest. Specifically, many viewers figure to stay tuned in to see where two of the most recognizable names in College football over the last couple of years end up. Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. Neither is projected to go early. In fact many feel they won’t even go in the 1st round.
One scout was quoted this week as saying Tim Tebow is “awful” and brings nothing to the table in terms of being an NFL QB. Maybe so, but I’d want a guy with a will to win like Tebow on my team. Something tells me this kid will find a way to excel at this level.
