Philadelphia Eagles

vs.

Kansas City Chiefs

Week 2

NFL Pick

9/16/17

by Jadon Green

This Game features two teams that had legit performances in winning their season opener and each won on the road. The Eagles took down the Washington Redskins in the Nation’s Capital where they played good D and they forced Four turnovers. They have a tough task on the road again facing the confident Chiefs, who beat the defending champion New England Patriots.

The Chiefs beat the Patriots in their season opener where QB Alex Smith looked like Tom Brady. The defense kept Brady in check and KC just kept making big play after big play and rookie RB Kareem Hunt had a HUGE debut. Even only in Week 2 this is a big non-Conference match up in the heartland.

These teams met last in the 2013 season in Philly where the Chiefs beat the Eagles 26-16.

In their season opener the Eagles beat the Washington Redskins 30 to 17 where they GAve up only 264 total yards and held the Skins to 64 yards on the ground. Carson Wentz passed for 307 yards and while he threw a pick-6 he also had two TD and avoided the pressure ot make some big plays on 3rd down. TE Zach Ertz and WR Nelson Agholor each had at least 86 yards and Wentz’s play was key in the Game since the Eagles only rushed for 58 yards. Off-season addition LeGArrette Blount rushed for 46 yards averaging only 3-3 yards per carry and Darren Sproles only rushed for a grant total of six yards.

Alex Smith did his best Tom Brady impersonation in the Chiefs opening 42-27 win over the New England Patriots passing for 368 yards with 4 TD and 0 INT. Tyreek Hill had 133 receiving yards, with 75 coming on one play, and Kareem Hunt had five catches for 98 yards and 2 TD and also rushed for 148 yards and 1 TD. Yeah. Hunt had a big Game.

Overall, in the win over the Patriots in their house they out-GAined them 537 yards to 371 yards and while Tom Brady did not have a bad Game KC held him to no passing TD.

Key Betting Trends

The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Games overall, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road Games, and in their last 11 road Games the Over record is 9-2.

The Chiefs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Games overall, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home Games, and in their last 9 Games in September the Over record is 7-2.

The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Games against the Chiefs.

Jason’s Pick: While the Eagles have covered the spread in their last Four Games overall and in Four of their last five Games against the Chiefs both of those betting trends will not continue. Philly won the Game against the Skins forcing Four turnovers, but they could not run the ball. The Chiefs will not turn the ball over and you cannot beat them with a one-dimensional Game. KC will build on their great season opener and win this Game and cover the spread at home.
