Week 4

NFL Pick

10/1/17

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1 SU 2-1 ATS) vs. New York Jets (1-2 SU 1-2 ATS)

Don’t look now, but the Jaguars are 2-1 and they put up 44 points in their last Game facing a Baltimore Ravens defense that was supposed to be a good one. They have really not played a good team yet and that continues in this Game, but the Jets are coming off their first win of the season where their D only GAve up six points.

At 5 dimes sportsbook the Jaguars are 3.5-point favorites with a total of 39.5.

The Jets are coming off their first win of the season where they did not light up the scoreboard, but they played great defense. They stuffed the run in their win over the Miami Dolphins in their last Game and their run D will be key in this AFC match up.

These teams met last in the 2015 season in New York where the Jets beat the Jags 28-23.

The Jaguars have covered the spread in seven of their last nine Games facing the Jets and have covered in five of their last six Games facing them in the Big Apple.

The Jaguars dominated the Baltimore Ravens in their last Game winning 44-7 where they racked up 410 yards and held the Ravens to only 186 yards. On top of that Jax forced three turnovers, did not commit any, and held Baltimore to only 52 passing yards. Blake Bortles passed for 244 yards with 4 TD and 0 INT and Marqise Lee and Marcedes Lewis, who had three TD in the Game, each had at least 62 receiving yards.

In the London Game the Jag rushed for 166 yards with Corey Grant rushing for 75 yards, with 58 yards coming on one run, and rookie Leonard Fournette     rushing for 59 yards and only averaging 3.5 yards per carry. The Jags will look to run the ball in this Game, but they will be facing a New York run D that held the Dolphins to only 30 rushing yards last week. Still, Bortles cannot be counted on again can he to have another great Game and while the Jags always seem to play great in London they are back stateside in this Game.

The Jets schooled the Miami Dolphins in their last Game winning 20-6 holding Miami to only 225 yards. Josh McCown was 18/25 for 249 yards with a TD and Robbie Anderson had 95 receiving yards. The Jets did not get a great ground Game, but their D came through and McCown did not turn the ball over even though he fumbled twice recovering both times.

Nothing much was expected from either of these teams this season, especially the Jets, but each won last week and the Jags can, surprisingly, move to 3-1 with a win.

The Jaguars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road Games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Games overall, and in their last 7 Games the Over record is 5-2.

The Jets are 2-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Games following a ATS win, and in their last 5 Games the Under record is 4-1.

Jason’s Pick: The Jets are coming off win, but they still have major issues on both sides of the ball. While the Jags are not a playoff team they will look like one this Sunday, as they will run the ball well, Bortles will have a solid Game, and the D will be dominant for the 2nd straight week. Even on the road the Jaguars will win and cover the spread.
