New York Jets

vs.

Buffalo Bills

NFL Pick

By Jason Green

9/10/17

The Jets went 5-11 last season and they overhauled the roster and are in full rebounding mode. While they have a couple of young QB’s they brought in jOurneyman Josh McCown and the 38-year old veteran has been named the starter even though in the past three seasons under center he is 2-20. Yeah that is how bad it is for the Jets. The Jets are a 9 point underdog at Buffalo this week.

The Bills come into the season with Tyrod Taylor still under center, but they traded away WR Sammy Watkins. While he suffered a coNCussion in the preseason he should be able to go in this Game. One thing the Bills have going for them in this Game is they face the Jets, who may be in a for a very long season and who they have beaten in Four of their last five Games at home even though that one loss came last season.

Last season the Jets beat the Bills twice and in both Games they put up at least 30 points.

McCown does not have much to work with at WR with a very young and inexperieNCed corps, but the team did trade for Jermaine Kearse, who will be the #1 WR on the season. The run Game is also an issue with the aging Matt Forte at the forefront and he did not have a good first season in the Big Apple last year. He and Bilal Powell will have to run the ball well in this Game, as McCown needs help and cannot do it all himself.

Last season Buffalo ranked 19th in the league on defense and while they were legit against the pass they only ranked 29th in the league against the run and that is a coNCern for them this season. Still, their D may be better this season with the solid additions of DB’s Micah Hyde and Shareece Wright and 1st round pick DB Tre’Davious White.

One thing the Jets have going for them is they have a good defensive team and they will face a Bills’ offense that has some question marks. Taylor has passed for over 3,000 yards and rushed for over 550 in each of his first two seasons as the starter and they have RB LeSean McCoy, but the WR corps is a thin one. They are hoping their 2nd round pick of Zay Jones can be the playmaker this season on the outside.

Key Betting Trends

The Jets are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Games in September, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road Games, and they have an Under record of 8-3 in their last 11 road Games.

The Bills are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home Games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Games overall, and in their last 8 home Games they have an Over record of 8-0.

The Bills are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home Games against the Jets.

Jason’s Pick: The Bills have some big issues this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but they are facing the Jets, who may be the worst team in the league this season. Take Buffalo in this one, as they are at home and McCown has never been a very good QB and has two wins under his belt in his last 22 starts.

Bettorsworld Pick – We’re going to go against Jason here. Too early in the season to lay a big number in a division Game. We’ll take the 8. Jets +8
