Tennessee Titans

vs.

Jacksonville Jaguars

 Week 2

NFP Pick

9/17/17

By Jason Green

When was the last time the Jaguars faced the Titans when they had a winning record? Probably been a while and by a while I mean a long while. Still, Jax was legit in their season opener and the Titans were not in an opening 10-point loss in their house. Still, the Titans are the home favorites in this AFC South match up and you can’t jump on the Jaguars bandwagon after only one win.

The Jaguars laid a beat down on the Houston Texans in their first Game of the season and the Game was in the Lone Star State no less. They really played well on the defensive side of the ball forcing Four turnovers and only giving up seven points. Leonard Fournette had a pretty good debut and one of their three wins last season was in their 2nd to last Game at home beating Tennessee.

The Titans lost to the Oakland Raiders 26-16 in their season opener even though the stats were very similar. They only had nine fewer overall yards, were better on 3rd down conversions, and had more passing yards.  Marcus was 25 for 41 for 256 yards and while he did not have a pick he also did not have a TD. One of the reasons the Titans could not get it going was their run Game, as DeMarco Murray only rushed for 44 yards averaging 3.7 yards per carry and overall they rushed for 95 yards in the Game with 36 coking on a couple of runs.

In their season opener the Jags beat the Houston Texans 29-7 where they did have a ton of yards (280), but held Houston to only 203 total yards and they forced Four turnovers. Blake Bortles only passed for 125 yards, but he had a TD and was not picked off. The Jax offensive line played a great Game not allowing any sacks and Leonard Fournette    had a legit debut rushing for 100 yards, averaging 3.8 yards per carry, and also caught three passes for 24 yards

Tennessee did have two sacks in the Game and they have to pressure Bortles in this Game, but their run D will be more important. With the high draft pick the Jags used on Fournette they will lean more on the run and while Tennessee was not bad against the run in their season opening loss they did give up 109 yards on the ground.

Key Betting Trends

The Titans are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 road Games, 13-35-3 ATS in their last 51 vs. AFC South, and in their last 5 Games they have an Under record of 4-1.

The Jaguars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Games overall, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home Games, and in their last 6 home Games the Over record is 5-1.

The Jags are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 home Games against the Titans.

The Jags are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 Games against the Titans.

In the last 7 Games between these division rivals the Over record is 6-1.

Jason’s Pick: Man, how the tide can change if the Jags can win and go 2-0 and if the 0-1 Texans and Colts lose with them both being underdogs this week. Too bad for them that will not happen. Sure the Texans and Colts may lose, I think they will, but so will the Jags. They are Jacksonville and while they have been a good bet facing the Titans in the last few seasons Mariota will have a good Game, Murray will bouNCe back and be solid as well, and the Titans will get the W and cover the spread in the Sunshine State.
