Panthers

vs.

Redskins

NFL Pick

Week 6

10/14/2018

By: Jason Green

Carolina Panthers (3-1 SU 2-2 ATS) vs. Washington Redskins (2-2 SU 2-2 ATS)

The Panthers have won two in a row and while they scored 33 points in their last Game they needed a 63-yard field goal as time expired to beat a Giants’ team that only has one win. Carolina is led by their rushing offense that ranks first in the league averaging 154 rushing yards per Game. They have a balanced team was well ranking 12th in the league in points per Game and 13th in points against.

The Redskins are coming off a bad loss to the New Orleans Saints where they were crushed by the New Orleans Saints losing 43-19. At 2-2 they are still in the wide-open NFC East race where no team has a winning record. Washington only GAve up 44 points in their first three Games of the season before giving up 43 in their last Game.

Adrian Peterson has had a resurgent season in the Nation’s Capital and while he was injured in the loss to the Saints he will go in this Game.

At 5Dimes sportsbook the Redskins are a 1-point home favorite with a total sitting at 45.

This season the Panthers are 2-2 ATS with an O/U record of 3-1 and the Redskins are 2-2 ATS with an O/U record of 2-2.

These teams last met in the 2016 season where the Panthers beat the Redskins 26-15.

The Panthers have covered the spread in their last Four Games against the Redskins and have also covered in five of their last six Games facing them in Washington.

In their last Game the Panthers had a thrilling 33-31 win over the Giants hitting the long field goal at the end. They were outGAined 432 yards to 350 yards and while they GAve up 382 passing yards they held the Giants to only 50 yards and did not allow them to convert a single first down. Cam Newton passed for 237 yards with a couple of touchdowns, but he was also picked off twice.

Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey led the team in rushing in the New York win with 58 rushing yards, only averaging 3.4 yards per carry, and Newton chimed in for 29 yards on the ground. The Panthers will face a Washington defense that GAve up 447 yards in their last Game and GAve up too many big plays in the air.

The Redskins lost to the New Orleans Saints 43-19 in a Game they would like to forget. They only rushed for 39 yards and they had the Game’s only turnover. Alex Smith passed for 275 yards and spread the wealth round hitting many targets, but he did not have a touchdown, had an interception, and got no help from the run Game.

Adrian Peterson leads the Skins in rushing yards on the season and while he hurt his shoulder in the loss to the Saints he stated he will be ready to go for Carolina. He and Chris Thomson will be facing a Carolina run defense that was solid last week and ranks 6th in the nation. In Washington’s two losses they have struggled to run the ball so establishing the run will be key for them in this NFC matchup.

Key Betting Trends

Panthers

5-1 ATS in their last 6 Games after an ATS loss

0-4 ATS in their last 4 Games after a win

Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 Games

Redskins

4-1 ATS in their last 5 home Games

6-1 ATS in their last 7 Games after a loss

Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 home Games

Jason’s Pick: For the Redskins it has gone good Game, bad Game, good Game, bad Game, so I guess they are due for a good one this Sunday. That is exactly what will happen, as their defense will play better than last week and their ground Game will get it done. Washington will get the home win and cover the spread moving above .500 on the season.
