Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Week 17 NFL Betting Analysis

Philadelphia Eagles (8-7 6-9 ATS) at New York Giants (4-11 7-8 ATS)

The Eagles are a 4.5-point road favorite in their season finale facing the New York Giants where they can wrap up the NFC East title with a win or a Dallas Cowboys loss. The total for this game sits at 45.

As of Thursday, even money has been wagered on this game, as the spread has not changed since opening.

The Eagles have won three in a row and are coming off the biggest win of the season in the last game beating the Cowboys 17-9 to put them in the driver’s season for the division crown.

The Giants have won two in a row where they have totaled 77 points. Their last loss was a 23-17 OT road loss to the Eagles.

In their last game, the Giants racked up a ton of yards in a 41-35 OT win over the Washington Redskins.

The Eagles had given up 44 points in two games, both wins where they totaled 60 points before their D came up big stuffing the run and holding Dallas to only nine points in their last game.

The Giants have covered the spread in four of their last five games facing the Eagles.

Big Time Win

The Eagles came up big in their win over the Cowboys in their last game. They outscored America’s Team 10-0 in the first quarter, outgained them 431 yards to 311 yards, and they only gave up 54 rushing yards.

Carson Wentz quieted his many critics, at least for a while, in the win over Dallas was he was 31/40 for 319 yards with a TD and no INT. He has stepped up in the Eagles’ three-game win streak where he has six TD and no INT.

Wentz is dealing with a shorthanded WR corps but in the win over the Cowboys, three players had at least 71 receiving yards. RB Miles Sanders was a big reason Philly beat Dallas, as he rushed for 79 yards and a TD and also had five catches for 77 receiving yards.

Wentz passed for 325 yards with two TD and no INT in the December 10th home win over the Giants where his two scoring passes got the Eagles to OT and won them the game in the extra period.

The Giants’ defense ranks 26th in the NFL in pass defense and 19th in run defense.

Racking up the Yards

In their shootout win over the Redskins in their last game, the Giants outgained them 552 yards to 361 yards and rushed for 206 yards.

Daniel Jones came back from missing time with an ankle injury and lit the Skins up passing for 352 yards with five TD and was not picked off. This will be his first career game against the Eagles, as he missed the last one with an injury.

Jones now only went off in the Washington game but Saquon Barkley did as well rushing for 189 yards with a TD and also had 90 receiving yards and a TD. While he had a sophomore slump after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year last season he has rushed for at least 117 yards in his last two games. In the recent OT loss to the Eagles he rushed for 66 yards only averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

Philly ranks 3rd in the league in run defense but 19th in pass defense and Jones has a lot of pressure on him in this game.

Our Prediction

While the Eagles are only 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Giants they are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games facing them on the road.

Wentz has really come up big in the last few games under a lot of pressure. This was especially in the case in the last game and in the OT win over the Giants. He will repeat those performances in this game and play well and while the confident New York team will play well on offense their D will struggle. The Eagles will win and cover in this game and capture the NFC East in the process.

PICK: Eagles -4.5
