The current odds to win the NFC West division favor the defending NFC Champion Rams in 2019. According to the odds, the Seahawks are expected to contend with the 49ers perhaps making some noise. The odds have the Cardinals comfortably in last place in the division.

Rams Defense Needs to Improve

The Rams (-225 odds to win NFC West) only scored three points in losing the Super Bowl last season, but still have the pieces to get back in Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and a solid WR corps. The offense should be ok, but Gurley has to stay healthy and Goff needs to keep progressing under center.

The defense for L.A. only ranked 19th in the league last season even though that unit features two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. They picked up Eric Weddle and Clay Matthews to bolster the D that lost some key players. No shock the defending NFC champs have a tough schedule, especially early with the Panthers, Saints, and Browns.

Run Seahawks, Run

The Seahawks (3/1 odds to win NFC West) made the playoffs last season behind a great run game and a solid season from Russell Wilson. The offensive line may have issues again, but they have Chris Carson (1,151 yards last season) and Rashaad Penny and a decent WR corps.

The Seattle defense is no longer with the Legion of Boom with the last piece in Earl Thomas now with the Ravens and last season the D ranked in the middle of the pack. However, they made some solid signings on the defense and three of their top four draft picks, including their first two, were used on defensive players.

The 49ers May be a Dark Horse

The 49ers (5/1 odds to Win NFC West) only won four games last season, but there is a lot of hope for the team this season. Jimmy Garoppolo comes back from a major knee injury and he has weapons in star TE George Kittle and a run game with Matt Breida and solid off-season addition Tevin Coleman. The WR corps is young but has talent and Jimmy G needs to bounce back and be THE man in San Fran.

The defense for the 49ers ranked a respectable 13th in the league last season and they have a lot of young talent on that side of the ball and the team used the #2 pick to take DE Nick Bosa. In their first seven games SF faces only one team that made the playoffs and none in their first four games.

New Faces for Cardinals

The Cardinals (25/1 odds to Win NFC West) are big long shots to win the NFC West but have optimism with many new faces. They took electric QB Kyler Murray with the first pick in the draft and new head coach Kliff Kingsbury is banking the Heisman winner can get Arizona back to being legitimate. RB David Johnson dealt with injuries last season and has to take pressure off Murray, and this is especially the case with a less than stellar WR corps.

Arizona still has issues for a defense that ranked 20th in the league last season and they ranked dead last in the league defending the run. All eyes will be on the undersized Murray and after a facing the Lions in their first game they face the Ravens, Panthers, and Seahawks in their next three games.
