In their last game the Giants got their first W of the season with a 31-28 road win over the Arizona Cardinals. However, they failed to cover the spread for the second straight game as a 4.5-point favorite.

The 49ers moved to 2-0 on the young season beating the L.A. Rams 30-23 on the road in their last game. They failed to cover as a 7.5-point favorite after covering in the opener.

Big Time Comeback

In their win over the Cardinals in the last game the Giants erased a 21-point deficit for a big comeback. They outscored Arizona 31-8 in the second half and for the game outgained them 439 yards to 379 yards.

Daniel Jones had a big game against Arizona passing for 321 yards with two TD and one INT and Jalin Hyatt and Darren Waller combined for 165 receiving yards. Saquon Barkley led the way with 63 rushing yards and a TD but left the game with an injury and he is listed as doubtful to face the 49ers.

Jones also rushed for 59 yards in the last game and since Barkley is likely out, he and Matt Breida, who only has 14 yards on three carries, will man the running duties.

Jones and company will be facing a more than solid San Fran defense led by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa. The New York offensive line has to play well in this game facing Bosa and the pass rush. Also, since Jones will have to shoulder more of the offensive load look for him to air it out more and while loaded in the secondary the 49ers did give up nearly 300 passing yards in their last game.

Turning On the D

After giving up 17 points in the first half in the 49ers win over the Rams their defense stepped up in the second half forcing two turnovers and only allowing six points.

Brock Purdy was not spectacular but efficient in the Rams win passing for 206 yards with no TD and no INT and was only sacked once. He spread the wealth with four players with at least 30 receiving yards led by Deebo Samuel with 63 yards.

Christian McCaffrey had another big game last week rushing for 116 yards and a TD averaging 5.8 yards per carry and had 19 receiving yards. McCaffrey leads the NFL in rushing yards, by a wide margin, and he is averaging a whopping 6.4 yards per carry.

The Giants’ defense has had their issues, as they gave up 40 points in their opener facing the Cowboys and 23 points last week to a Cardinals’ team that has a less than dynamic offense.

Trends

The Giants are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games.

In the Giants last four games facing the 49ers in San Francisco the total has gone Over four times.

The 49ers are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games.

Our Pick – OVER 45
