There is no better rivalry in college basketball today than the ACC
annual battle between Coach K’s Duke Blue Devils and Roy Williams’
North Carolina Tar Heels.
This match up you just can’t be beat! No matter what their standing
in the ACC or in the country for that matter, these two teams come
out to absolutely kill each other! Every single time these two
college basketball heavyweights go head to head the atmosphere is as
if they were playing for the NCAA national title. It is that
intense!
There are only a couple of rivalries in sports that can compare. The
Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics heated rivalry which has
recently sparked up again and the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan
Wolverines college football rivalry. That is some select company!
These games have been so good in the past that they get national
attention no matter what every year. This season we should be in for
another classic Duke and UNC match up as the two teams battle for
position in both the ACC standings and the country’s Top 25
rankings.
Although the Blue Devils are one of the best teams in the country
they have had their struggles as of late. First it was the 12 point
loss to Wake Forest which kind of gave Coach K and company a little
bit of a wake up call. Duke did rebound quickly though with a
convincing win over an unranked Virginia team, but they were still
not ready for a very motivated Clemson team shortly thereafter.

In what has turned out to be their worst loss of the season and in
recent memory for Duke, the Clemson Tigers proved that they are a
squad to be feared in the ACC. The Tigers absolutely destroyed the
Blue Devils blowing them out by an embarrassing 27 points which was
a huge shock to the system for the once ACC leading Duke Blue
Devils.
With the bad loss to Clemson and barely getting a three point win
over a weak Miami team many people are beginning to ask whether or
not the Blue Devils are championship contenders like they seemed to
be earlier in the season.
The Tar Heels on the other hand have worked their up to the top of
the ACC yet again and are red hot going into their match up against
their hated rival Duke. With seven straight wins UNC is one of the
hottest teams in the country. With Tyler Hansbrough in the running
for another Player of the Year award, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and
Danny Green playing phenomenal basketball right now the Tar Heels
look like there is no stopping them.
North Carolina opened up -2 but the deuce was quickly gobbled up. It
now sits at NC -1.5 as of this writing on Tuesday Night. We have
Duke winning this one by 3 or more so we'll gladly take any
