South Florida will host NC State on Saturday and will likely be without starting QB Mike White who went down with an arm injury last week. That’s the bad news. The good news is that he was injured on the first play of the Game and backup Steven Bench came in and played admirably, even scoring on a run. NC State is currently a -2.5 point favorite at 5 dimes sportsbook.
This is a matchup between two teams desperate for wins. NC State was 3-9 a year ago while South Florida was 2-10. For NC State, they could not have asked for a better Schedule to start the year. They have beaten Georgia Southern and Old Dominion (barely) and now face the Bulls followed by Presbyterian next week. If they can get a win this week, they’ll likely start the year 4-0, surpassing last years win total and needing only two more the rest of the way to qualify for a Bowl Game.
South Florida has the tougher road. They already lost one, last week to Maryland, and there really aren’t any “easy” Games most of the way. That would seem to put that much more pressure on this team who hasn’t had a winning season since 2010.
This figures to be a close Game. We really haven’t seen anything from either team that would want to make us jump in and invest. Although, South Florida did have some fight in them last week against a Maryland team that should be decent this year. We’ll offer a small opinion here on the home dog and hop the line goes back to +3. South Florida +3 or better.
