Saints vs. Packers Week 1 Betting Preview

9/8/11

The NFL will do something Thursday Night that many thought they wouldn’t…….play. After a work stoppage and all the uNCertainty surrounding it, Fans, Players, Coaches and of course, Bettors, will get what they have been waiting for. NFL Football, as the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers host Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

The Packers are a 4 point home favorite with a total of 47 at leading online sportsbook 5dimes. The Game opened Green Bay -5 and has been on the board for quite some time. The end of July actually.

Handicapping the NFL is much different than handicapping college football. In college football, there are plenty of Games each week where the only unknown is the margin of victory, not the actual winner. In the NFL, that simply isn’t so. Any team can beat any other on any given day. The GAp in talent between first and worst is extremely small.

You can find all sorts of edges in college football that rarely exist in the NFL, not to mention the emotional angles that exist in college ball which are just about extiNCt from pro ball. NFL players could care less about a rivalry with another team. They just want to get paid. Rivalries in the NFL are for the fans.

Here at Bettorsworld, we rarely make an NFL play until at least week 4 unless something really stands out. We prefer to wait for the teams to develop their personalities. As it is, we make far fewer NFL plays than college ones.

In the opener, we have no significant opinion. We’ll lean towards the Saints here only because of the way their season ended a year ago, with a loss to the huge underdog Seahawks in the opening round of the playoffs. That loss has to be fresh in the minds of veteran Saints players as the Saints were destined to go much further last year. No more Reggie Bush but Mark Ingram should fill in nicely.

The best way for a bettor to approach week 1 NFL betting is to bet with someone else’s money. Grab a nice bonus from one of the top offshore sports books like 5dimes.com or SBG Global and put the free bonus money into play in week 1. If you win, great. If you lose, oh well, not your money!

Good LUck this year betting the NFL! We’ll be here each week with Our opinions and of course, when we have a Key Release we’ll let you know.
