Raiders

vs.

Dolphins

Week 9

NFL Pick

11/5/17

By: Jason Green

Oakland Raiders (3-5 SU 3-5 ATS) vs. Miami Dolphins (4-3 SU 3-3-1 ATS)

The Raiders have been one of the more disappointing teams in the league this season and after many thought they would be a legit Super Bowl contender they are two Games under .500 at the midway point. They were soundly beaten in their last Game and they have lost five of their last six Games after winning their first two on the season. Oakland has not ran the ball well, Derek Carr has not looked like he did last season, and the D only ranks 23rd in opponents’ ppg.

At 5 dimes sportsbook this Game has the Raiders a 3-point favorite with a total of 44.

The Dolphins are still a surprise over .500, but they were throttled in their last Game losing 40-0 and they traded away their starting RB. The loss in their last Game snapped their three-Game winning streak and after Jay Cutler missed the last Game he is questionable for this one. Miami ranks last in the NFL averaging only 13.1 ppg and while their D ranks in the middle of the pack they did give up 40 points in their last Game.

The Dolphins are 4-0 ATS in their last Four Games facing the Raiders, but the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven Games between these AFC teams.

The Raiders are coming off a bad 34-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills where Oakland had more yards (367 to 331), but they had Four turnovers and did not force any, they GAve up 166 rushing yards, and only GAined 54 yards on the ground. Derek Carr did pass for 313 yards with a TD, but he was picked off twice Michael Crabtree led the team with 83 receiving yards and while they have him and Amari Cooper, Carr is not making the big play down the field like he did last season. Marshawn LyNCh was suspended for the last Game, but will be in this Game even though he has not played well coming out of retirement.

At least Miami’s defense is balanced as they rank 7th in the league in both defending the pass and the run.

The Dolphins would like to forget about their last Game, which was in primetime no less on Thursday night, in losing to the Baltimore Ravens 40-0. Miami only had 196 yards in the Game, turned the ball over twice, and only rushed for 45 yards. Backup QB Matt Moore only passed for 176 yards with 0 TD and 2 INT and Jay Ajayi was the lead RB with only 23 yards averaging a paltry 1.8 yards per carry and he was recently shipped to the Philadelphia Eagles before the trade deadline. Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will take over in the backfield and to say they have only combined for 57 rushing yards on the season and neither is averaging over 2.7 yards per carry. At least they will get a chance to face a struggling Raiders’ run D that was less than impressive in their last Game and only ranks 25th in the league.

The Raiders are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Games overall, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road Games, and in their last 8 road Games they have an Under record of 6-2.

The Dolphins are 6-13 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 8-18 ATS in their last 26 Games following a ATS loss, and in their last 8 Games they have an Under record of 6-2.

Jason’s Pick: The Raiders are reeling, but still have to go with them facing the Dolphins in the Sunshine State. The offense for the Fish is terrible and they lost their lead RB and don’t’ know who their QB will be. Carr will have a good Game and while Miami will put up a fight at home they don’t have the offensive weapons and Oakland will win and cover.
