Titans

vs.

49ers

Week 15

NFL Pick

12/17/17

By: Jason Green

Tennessee Titans (8-5 SU 5-7-1 ATS) vs. San Francisco 49ers (3-10 SU 7-6 ATS)

The Titans are coming off a loss, which snapped their two-Game win streak, and with the loss they fell one Game behind the Jaguars, who they face in the last Game of the season, by a Game in the AFC South. They played solid on D in their last Game, but they only scored a grand total of seven points and they struggled to run the ball, which is their strength on offense. Tennessee leads the Wild Card in the AFC, but they are on the road in this Game and face a 49ers team that is suddenly hot.

At 5 dimes sportsbook this Game is a PICK with the total sitting at 44.

The 49ers have won their last two Games and three of their last Four and the team, and fans, have hope, as they saw what newly acquired Jimmy GAroppolo can do in the last Game passing for over 330 yards. In two of San Fran’s last three wins they have put up at least 26 points and the offense has been the issue for the team this season only ranking 27th in the NFL putting up an average of 17.5 ppg.

These teams have not met since back in the 2013 season.

The Titans’ offense fell flat in their last Game, which was a 12-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. While the Tennessee defense held Arizona to 261 yards and only Four field goals their offense did not help out with only 204 yards and they were held scoreless in the 2nd half. Marcus Mariota has a shoulder injury, but will go in this Game and in the Cardinals’ loss he was only 16/31 for 159 yards and while he passed for a TD he was picked off twice. Eric Decker led the club with 56 receiving yards, but one of the main reasons for the struggles on the offensive side of the ball was the lack of the run Game. DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry combined for only 54 rushing yards and neither of them averaged over 3.1 yards per carry.

The San Francisco run defense will be tested in this Game and while they only rank 25th in the NFL in that category they played well in their last Game holding the Texans to only 90 rushing yards.

In their last Game the 49ers were in the Lone Star State and they won their 2nd in a row with a 26-16 win over the Houston Texans. The 49ers had 416 yards and they held the Texans to 311 yards. Jimmy GAroppolo showed why San Fran traded for him and passed for a career high 334 yards and he was picked off oNCe and had a TD. Marquise Goodwin led the team with 104 receiving yards and Carlos Hyde helped out in the backfield with 78 yards on the ground averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Tennessee’s defense is legit against the run ranking 5th in the league, but only rank 22nd defending the pass.

The Titans are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 road Games, 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 road Games vs. a team with a losing home record, and in their last 5 road Games they have an Under record of 4-1.

The 49ers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Games after a straight up win, 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home Games, and in their last 5 Games the Under record is 4-1.

Jason’s Pick: Taking the hotter 49ers in this one, as while they are only 1-5 at home this season GAroppolo will have another good showing. San Francisco will get the W and send the Titans to their 2nd straight loss, which will really hurt their playoff chances.
