Seattle Seahawks vs. Cleveland Browns – Week 6 NFL Betting Analysis
Seattle Seahawks (4-1 2-3 ATS) at Cleveland Browns (2-3 2-3 ATS)
The Seahawks are coming off a solid win while the Browns are coming off a bad loss and in this non-conference game Seattle is a slight 1.5-point favorite with a total of 46.
The public money has been on the Seahawks, big time, as they opened as a 2.5-point underdog and are now a 1.5-point favorite.
The Seahawks have won two in a row and in their last game they beat the L.A. Rams 30-29. It was their first win against a team with a winning record and they narrowly won with the Rams missing a last second field goal.
The Browns were embarrassed in their last game on Monday night losing on the road to the San Francisco 49ers 31-3.
The last time these teams it was the 2015 season.
The home team is 3-0-2 ATS in the last five games between these teams.
Balance does the Trick
In their win over the Rams in their last game they had fewer overall yards (429 to 477) but had more balance with 262 passing yards and 167 rushing yards and forced two turnovers while committing one.
Russell Wilson has flown under the radar this season and has to be a MVP candidate early off and in the win over the Rams he was 17/23 for 268 yards with four TD and no INT. On the season he has 12 TD and has not been picked off.
Wilson has been getting it done even though he does not have a great WR corps, but three players have at least 262 receiving yards led by Tyler Lockett (379 yards 3 TD).
Chris Carson rushed for 118 yards in the win over the Rams averaging 4.4 yards per carry and after not rushing for over 60 yards in his first three games he has rushed for 100+ yards in his last two games.
Cleveland has a solid pass defense but the same cannot be said about their run defense, which only ranks 29th in the league and they gave up 275 rushing yards last week in the bad loss to the 49ers in their last game.
Forget, and Move On
The Browns have to forget about their Monday night 31-3 loss to the 49ers where they were outgained 446 yards to 180 yards and were killed on the ground.
Baker Mayfield flowed up his best game of the season by going only 8/22 for 100 yards with no TD and 0 INT. Max Kellerman of ESPN put that performance into perspective, as Mayfield had a QBR of 13.4 in the game and he Kellerman stated that if you just spike the ball every time off the snap you still have a QBR over 30.
Nick Chubb rushed for 87 yards averaging 5.4 yards per carry against the 49ers and he has rushed for 87 yards in his last three games.
Odell Beckham Jr. was the Browns’ big off-season addition but the “star” WR only has 47 receiving yards in his last two games and has over 71 receiving yards in only one game this season.
One good thing the Browns have going for them is that Seattle does not have a great pass rush and Cleveland has had major issues protecting Mayfield this season.
The Seattle defense is just the opposite of the Browns’ D in that they have been solid against the run but only rank 26th in defending the pass.
Our Prediction
The Seahawks have covered the spread in seven of their last eight road games while the Browns are only 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games.
So, the Browns are 0-2 at home this season and the Seahawks are 2-0 on the road. Mayfield and the Browns will bounce back in this game and play well, but Wilson and Seattle will play better. In a close game the Seahawks will get the W and cover the spread sending Cleveland to 2-4 heading into their bye week.
PICK: Seahawks -1.5
