New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles – Week 14 NFL Betting Analysis

New York Giants (2-10 4-8 ATS) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-7 4-8 ATS)

On Monday night the Philadelphia Eagles are a 10-point favorite hosting the New York Giants and they need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The total for this NFC East showdown is at 46.

The public has backed the Eagles at home in this division matchup, as they opened as an 8-point favorite and as of Thursday morning are a 10-point favorite.

The Eagles have lost three in a row and suffered a bad 37-31 loss to the Miami Dolphins in their last game. They are still in the playoff hunt, as they trail the Dallas Cowboys by one game in the NFC East and play them at home in their 2nd to last game.

The Giants have lost eight in a row and in their last game they lost to the Green Bay Packers 31-13. Rookie Daniel Jones, who threw three INT in the loss to the Packers, has a high ankle sprain and longtime starter Eli Manning will probably get the start.

This is the first time these rivals have faced each other this season and they play again in the last game of the season.

There have not been many defensive battles between these teams over the last few seasons, as in the last seven games the total has gone Over six times.

He’s Back

Manning gets his first start since the 2nd game of the season where it was done for him after passing for two INT in a loss to the Buffalo Bills. He inherits an offense that only ranks 20th in the league in passing yards per game and 23rd in rushing yards per game.

After winning Offensive Rookie of the Year last season RB Saquon Barkley has digressed this season. He only has two rushing TD to go along with 544 rushing yards, which ranks 24th in the league. However, after sluggish three games, he rushed for 83 yards, averaging a respectable 4.4 yards per carry, in the loss to the Packers and had 32 receiving yards.

The Giants lost to the Packers in their last game even though they outgained them 335 yards to 322 yards. However, New York had three turnovers and that killed them. Manning has had turnover issues for the last few seasons, which were less than stellar, and can that change in this game?

Manning will be facing the weakness of the Philly defense, which is their pass D that gave up 351 passing yards in the loss to the Dolphins in their last game and, overall, ranks 18th in the league.

Move Past South Beach

The Eagles have to get over their bad loss to the Dolphins where they gave up over 400 yards to a Miami team that ranks 3rd to last in the league on offense.

The Eagles did have a good game on offense in the Miami game with Carson Wentz passing for 310 yards with three TD and an INT. Alshon Jeffrey had 137 receiving yards and a TD and RB Miles Sanders rushed for 89 yards averaging 4.9 yards per carry and also caught a TD pass.

Sanders can take some pressure off Wentz and he has rushed for 146 yards in his last two games and in each averaged at least 4.9 yards per carry.

The Giants’ defense does not rank in the top 20 in the NFL against the pass or the run and they have given up at least 31 points in four of their last five games.

Our Prediction

The Eagles have covered the spread in seven of their last 10 games on Monday night. However, do not look for that trend to continue. Wentz and the Philly offense will have a solid game, but so will the Giants, as Manning has no pressure and will get it done. This will be a pretty close game that I think the Eagles will win, but New York will, at least, cover.

PICK: Giants +9.5
