In the primetime Thanksgiving game, the NFC West heats up when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers.
The oddsmakers have the Seahawks as a 7-point home underdog in this division clash with the total sitting at 43.5. The public has really backed the 49ers in this game, as they opened as a 5.5-point favorite and as of Tuesday are a 7-point favorite.
After a three-game skid the 49ers have rebounded to win their last two games and they are 7-3 and atop the NFC West. In their last game they were at home and beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27-14 where they failed to cover as a 13.5-point favorite and they have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games.
The Seahawks have lost two of their last three games and in their last game fell to 6-4 with a 17-16 road loss to the L.A. Rams. They covered the spread as a 1.5-point underdog and they had failed to cover in their previous three games.
On the season the 49ers are 5-5 ATS with an O/U record of 4-5-1 and the Seahawks are 4-5-1 ATS with an O/U record of 4-6.
This is the first game of the season between these division rivals and last season the 49ers beat the Seahawks three times including in the playoffs.
Perfect Purdy
In the 27-14 win over the Bucs in their last game QB Brock Purdy had a perfect passer rating and was 21-25 for 333 yards with three TD and no INT. Christian McCaffrey rushed for 78 yards and Brandon Aiyuk had a big game with 156 receiving yards and a TD.
In the win over Tampa the 49ers outgained them 420 yards to 287 yards, forced two turnovers and did not commit any, and only gave up 66 rushing yards.
On the season San Fran ranks third in the league in scoring (27.9 ppg), eighth in passing yards per game, and sixth in rushing yards per game.
Purdy (2,662 yards 18 TD 5 INT) leads the NFL in QBR and after five picks in the 49ers three-game skid he has none in the last two games. He and the San Fran offense will be facing a Seattle defense that ranks 19th in the league in points against (21.8 ppg), 21stagainst the pass, and 19th against the run.
Can’t Hold On
The Seahawks lost their last game to the Rams 17-16 even though they had a nine-point lead in the middle of the fourth quarter. While they outgained the Rams 291 yards to 267 yards and each team had one turnover, Seattle only managed three points in the second half.
In the loss to L.A. Geno Smith passed for 233 yards with a TD, Zach Charbonnet led the Seahawks with 47 rushing yards on 15 carries, and DK Metcalf led the way with 94 receiving yards and a TD.,
Seattle ranks 16th in the NFL in scoring (21.6 ppg), 13th in passing yards per game, and 25th in rushing yards per game.
Smith (2,404 yards 12 TD 7 INT) ranks 17th in the league in QBR and while listed as questionable head coach Pete Carroll expects the QB to play on turkey day.
The Seattle offense will be facing a tough test Thursday, as the 49ers lead the league in points against (15.7 ppg) and rank 15th against the pass and third against the run.
