Giants

vs.

Rams

Week 7 Pick

10/23/16

The Giants and Rams are both in bad need of a win when they meet in Week 7. New York has lost three of the last Four. Los Angeles has lost each of its last two Games. Both sit at 3-3 in highly competitive divisions. The Giants are in last place in the NFC East, despite sitting at .500. The Rams are in a tie for second in the NFC West. Needless to say, a loss would really hamper either team’s progress going forward. The Giants are a 2.5-point favorite and the over/under is  43.5.

The Giants, like many teams’ trend in the NFL, is to rely solely on the play of its quarterback to move the ball due to the lack of their run Game. Eli Manning, as usual, has been good for his fair share of big performances, throwing just under 300 yards per Game but has throw six interceptions to go along with his eight touchdown passes.

Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz supply plenty of threat to opposing defenses. Beckham is coming off the best performance of his young career, having 222 yards receiving and two touchdowns on eight receptions in last week’s win over Baltimore. Shepard was good out of the GAte but has slowed down a lot in his production the last three Games. Similarly, Cruz has been quieted each of the last few Games, even going reception-less two weeks ago at Green Bay.

The Rams, defensively, have not been that good as a whole but have done a decent job against the pass. They are allowing 242.5 passing yards per Game, good for 15th in the league. Los Angeles has been very bad against the run, but it’s very hard to imagine that the Giants will be able to take advantage of this.

Todd Gurley has gotten things going in the right direction recently…slightly. He’s had two of his three highest yards per carry averages in each of the last two weeks. Things have still been a challenge, though. On the season, Gurley has 346 yards and three touchdowns on just 2.9 yards per carry.

Case Keenum has offered largely nothing to Los Angeles’ attack all season. He is throwing for under 240 yards per Game and has six touchdowns to go along with his 7 touchdown passes. Kenny Britt is doing his best to help out, averaging 82 yards per Game through the air. He also has two touchdown receptions.

The Giants rank 19th in total defense, 22nd in passing defense and 12th against the run. Neither defense is adequate enough to expect them to guarantee a victory, but New York’s at least lines up to slow down an already underperforming Los Angeles running Game.

This Game is being played in London. Mix in the average, at best, defenses with all the time change, and who knows what you will come up with?
