Pittsburgh (0-1) Plays host to Seattle (0-1) in this battle of contrasting styles. Pittsburgh was pummeled by the Ravens last week and Coach Mike Tomlin has vowed to show more toughness and better effort this week. Seattle is also coming off of a loss to the 49ers in which they gave up 2 key special teams’ touchdowns.
Pittsburgh was manhandled by a Ravens team that was able to expose some holes in Pittsburghs aging defense. The Pittsburgh secondary aside from Troy Polamalu is suspect and will have trouble with teams that have multiple threats at receiver. The defense wills till have the ability to put on a significant pass rush to mask this. The offense will also look to establish the run as they attempt to get back to playing physical Pittsburgh style football.

Seattle is coming off a division title last season but has a whole new cast on offense this year. Tarvaris Jackson takes over for Matt Hasselback at quarterback. Pete Carol has made an effort to solidify the offensive line through the draft but it will still need time to gel. The defense is a huge question mark as last year Seattle ranked 27th in total defense and 25th in points per game. Since they didn’t make any huge moves on defense through free agency I’ll look for more of the same. The special teams were horrific last week allowing 2 touchdowns by Ted Ginn Jr.
The trends on this game vary Seattle is 6-2 the last 8 games against the spread and 3-1 the last 4 away games vs the Steelers. The key trend that I will lean on though is Seattle is 0-6 in back to back road games vs opponents off a straight up loss. Pittsburg will establish the run and play tough defense as they atone for the week 1 dismantling they received. Seattle simply does not have the weapons to exploit the secondary weaknesses or the offensive line to protect Tarvaris Jackson from the Pittsburgh rushing defense. Take Pittsburgh to cover the 14 point spread as Pittsburgh wins 38-10.
