The Giants made the playoffs last season, but they have lost their first two Games of the season and they already may be in panic mode. They have scored a grand total of 13 points in their first two Games, Eli Manning has really struggled, and their best player is still banged up in WR Odell Beckham Jr. The New York defense, which kept them in Games last season has not been bad, but they have not been that good either.
At 5 dimes sportsbook the Eagles are 7-point favorites with a total of 42.5.
The Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in their last Game, which was their first loss of the season after an impressive road win over the Washington Redskins in their opener. They had more total yards than the Chiefs, but had two turnovers while not forcing any.
Last season these teams split the two Games facing each other with each winning at home and the Eagles have covered the spread in five of their last six Games facing the Eagles.
The Giants lost to the Detroit Lions 24-10 this last Monday night even though they had more total yards (270-257). However, the Lions had balaNCe to their offense while the Giants did not only rushing for 62 yards. Eli Manning was 22 for 32 in the Game for 239 yards with a TD and a pick and the injured l Beckham Jr. only had Four catches for 36 yards. After him the WR corps is very thin and they brought in Brandon Marshall, but he only has two catches for 27 yards this season.
To say Manning has not gotten much help from the run Game would be an understatement, as the leading rusher this season for the Giants is
Orleans Darkwa with only 31 yards.
The Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 27-20 in their last Game where they GAve up 14 points in the 4th quarter. Carson Wentz passed for 333 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT and Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery combined for 189 receiving yards. Wentz also led the team in rushing and Darren Sproles (48 rushing yards in the Game) have to give their 2nd year QB more help.
The Eagles defense was not bad in the loss to Kansas City and they will be facing a struggling Giants’ offense, who have not scored more than 20 points since Week 12 of last season.
The Giants are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road Games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Games overall, and in their last 11 Games the Under record is 9-2.
The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Games overall, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Games overall, and in their last 8 home Games the Under record is 6-2.
Jason’s Pick: The favorite has covered the spread in five of the last six Games between these two bitter rivals. Look for that trend to continue. The Giants are a mess and I think they are in for a long season. Their offense will struggle oNCe again to put up points and while Wentz and company will not light up the scoreboard Philly will easily win and cover the 7-point spread.
