New York Giants

vs.

Green Bay Packers

NFL Wilcard

Playoff Pick

1/8/17

By Jason Green

The Giants won 3 of their last 4 Games of the season and they even played their started when they did not need to in their win over the Redskins, which knocked them out of the playoffs, in their last Game. They lost to the Packers 23-16 earlier this season in Green Bay, but their defense has been much improved in the 2nd half of the season. However, on the other side of the coin their offense has been less that impressive at the end of the season averaging 15.8 ppg.

The Packers are riding high and when QB Aaron Rodgers said the team could run the table and make the playoffs after losing 4 in a row and sitting at 4-6 he was right. Green Bay has won 6 in a row and with their win over the Lions in their last Game won the NFC North. Aaron Rodgers has gotten back in the MVP race with his play in that span, 15 TD and 0 INT, and he leads an offense that ranks 4th in the league in ppg.

The Giants are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 Games facing the Packers.

In their last Game the Giants beat the Redskins 19-10 on the road where they covered the spread as a 9-point underdog.

The Packers beat the Detroit Lions 31-24 in their last Game where they covered the spread as a 3.5-point favorite.

Eli Manning only passed for 180 yards with no TD and no INT in the win over the Redskins and for a change he got some help from the run Game. The Giants rushed for 161 yards with Paul Perkins going for 102 yards. Manning did pass for over 4,000 yards this season, but in the New York loss to Green Bay earlier this season he only had 199 passing yards.

Manning may have to carry the offense and while the Packers rank a legit 8th in the NFL in run defense they rank 2nd to last in pass defense.

Rodgers has simply been lights out in the last few Games and he has a slew of weapons iNCluding Jordy Nelson, who has to be the winner of the Comeback Play of the Year. There is a chance that Eddie LAcy will go in this Game, but if he cannot Ty Montgomery and Aaron Ripkowski, who went for 61 yards in the win over the Lions, will carry the rushing attack.

The Giants only rank 23rd in the league in pass defense, but tied for 3rd in run defense.

New York is 5-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 Games overall, and in their last 8 Games the posted total has gone Under 7 times.

Green Bay 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home Games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Games overall, and in their last 4 Games the posted total has gone Over every time.
