NFL Pick

New England Patriots (3-2 SU 2-3 ATS) vs. New York Jets (3-2 SU 3-2 ATS)

A couple of questions in the AFC East before the season would be would the Patriots go undefeated and would the Jets go winless? Well, neither of those things have happened and the surprising Jets are tied with the Pats, as well as the Buffalo Bills, atop the AFC East. New England has won three of their last Four Games and while their D was not bad in their last Game they still only rank 30th in the league in points against.

At 5 dimes sportsbook the Patriots are 11-point favorites with a total of 47.5.

How about them Jets? They have won three in a row and while they did not beat any great teams in their streak a win is a win. Their D will be key in this Game, as they are not a high scoring team and a couple of their RB’s are banged up. New York is 2-0 at home, but they are still big betting underdogs facing the Pats even though they have covered the spread in their last Four Games facing New England in their house.

Last season the Patriots won both Games facing the Jets and while they blew them out at home they only won by five points on the road.

In their last Game the Patriots beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-14 where they had fewer total yards and committed two turnovers. While New England played good defense in the Game they had to break up a pass play in the end zone to save the W. Tom Brady had another big Game passing for 303 yards and he leads the NFL in passing yards. He has a deep WR corps and Dion Lewis and Mike Gillislee combined for 105 rushing yards in the win over Tampa Bay.

Brady was sacked three times and hit several times in the win over the Bucs and the Jets need to keep the 5-time Super Bowl winning QB from having time in the pocket and if they do not he will carve up their secondary.

In their last Game the Jets beat the Cleveland Browns 17-14 where they were out-GAined 419 yards to 212 yards, but forced three turnovers. Josh McCown passed for 194 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT and while he is working with a less than stellar WR corps five players had at least 28 receiving yards in the Cleveland win. Bilal Powell is questionable for this Game with a calf injury and Matt Forte is out and the backups have to help McCown out, as he cannot carry the team with his arm, especially if this Game becomes a shootout.

In their win over Tampa Bay the Pats GAve up 319 passing yards and 90 rushing yards.

The Patriots are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road Games, 7-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, and in their last 13 road Games the Under record is 9-4.

The Jets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home Games vs. a team with a winning road record, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Games in October, and in their last 7 Games the Under record is 5-2.

Jason’s Pick: The Jets have won three in a row, but those wins came facing the Dolphins, Jaguars, and Browns. Ok, so Jax is 3-2 and Miami is 2-2, but they are still not great teams. The Pats are, however, and they will show that this Sunday in the Meadowlands and easily beat the Jets and cover the spread even giving 11 points.
